“Damages” Returns for Second Season

Wednesday, the second season of the TV show “Damages” is scheduled to debut, more than a year after the first one, comprising 13 intricate episodes, ended.

Starring Glenn Close as litigator Patty Hewes, the legal thriller revolves around the rivalry between the latter and her apprentice Ellen Parsons, portrayed by Rose Byrne, in cobweb-like plot woven with mysteries.

Last year, the show earned a number of awards, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Glenn Close’s performance as the ruthless litigator who, as the actress put it, acts like any man would in a position of power, being unforgiving, double-crossing and apparently soulless.

The 13 episodes second season, also featuring Close’s „Big Chill” co-star William Hurt as Patty Hewes’ new client, makes for a surprise return from Ted Danson, whose character Arthur Frobisher was shot at the end of the first season.

Tate Donovan also makes a comeback as Hewes’ business partner Tom Shayes, while Timothy Olyphant gives life to a new character, Wes Krulik.

At the beginning of the new season, Ellen, who is mourning the death of her fiance, has one thing in mind: to exact revenge on Patty, after she finds out that her former boss had been the one behind the failed attempt to kill her.

Now working for the FBI as an informant, Ellen takes part in an investigation focusing on Patty Hewes’ firm, which gives both the characters the chance to be at the helm of the show, in a fierce power struggle that only one of them can win.
