A woman has been accused of hiring a killer to murder her estranged husband.

The 42-year-old woman was identified as Vera Elizabeth Guthrie-Nail from Carrollton, Dallas. Vera and her husband were divorced for some time and she came up with the idea of killing the man to get back at him as the Collin County judge had given him custody of their 6-year-old daughter and their Frisco house.

Vera is currently in the Frisco jail under the charge of murder solicitation with a bond set at $100,000.

She was put under arrest yesterday in the deadly shooting of 36-year-old Craig Nail at his home in Frisco. On December 26th he was shot dead and his 38-year-old girlfriend, Therisa Hofman, was badly wounded.

If she is found guilty as charged, Vera could face up to 99 years or life in jail.

Details about the identity of the hired killer are still unavailable or weren’t yet released by police. However, Craig’s girlfriend gave detectives a description of the attacker.
According to the court records, Guthrie-Nail allegedly asked a man she was dating to kill her husband. However, the guy she was dating is now a police witness and his identity won’t be unveiled for security reasons. He acknowledged the fact that she asked him to do the job, but he never took it seriously.
 
"We have a victim and a witness that we have to protect," said Frisco police spokesman Sgt. Gerald Meadors said. "That's why we are not releasing very many details about this investigation. There are people who have to be protected, and we still have a shooter out there."

The two stopped dating in February and he decided to testify for the police when he found out that Craig Nail had been fatally shot inside his Frisco home.

Nail was fatally wounded by several bullets which hit him inside the home he used to share with his ex- wife and current killer. His girlfriend was also shot as she walked into Nail's house through the garage.
