Some reports say Dakota Fanning will play Jane in the “Twilight” sequel “New Moon.” In the book, Jane is a vampire who has dangerous mental powers and serves as a guard for the Italian sect known as the Volturi. The casting notice released this month described Jane as a "petite blonde with a ... Botticelli angel-like face ... [and] crimson irises."

A source from the cast crew told E! Online that there had been no auditions as to choose Fanning, but they had offered her the Jane character and the negotiations are going on at the moment. Apparently, the producers of the sequel were going back and forth on how to attract the young actress.

The fans of “Twilight” showed their full support on the cast and they had even sent a petition to the Summit Entertainment saying that the 14-year-old girl would perfectly fit as Jane. The petition has 128 signatures until now and says that Fanning is a “brilliant actress” who has the right age to play Jane. They added that she would bring the Jane character to life if she is truly chosen for it.

“New Moon” will start to shoot soon and the release date would maybe be announced in November this year. Chris Weitz has come to direct it, after the discussions between the producers and Catherine Hardwicke didn’t go as well as expected. Kristen Stewart expressed her confidence in Weitz during the Sundance Film Festival.

She said that Weitz is sweet and devoted to the movie. Apparently, he wouldn’t direct it just because it would certainly be the “next big thing,” but because he enjoys doing it.

Another controversial role for “New Moon” was the one of Jacob Black. But Taylor Lautner has recently been chosen to do this part, as Stewart expressed his joy toward this choice. Lautner packed on 30 pounds of muscles as to represent Jacob as good as possible. And we’re sure his efforts would worth all of it.
