Rapper DMX is behind bars once again
after being detained by the police in Phoenix,
Arizona at a shopping mall
Saturday on suspicion of giving false information to a hospital in order to avoid
paying for medical expenses.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa
County said that when DMX, born under the name of Earl Simmons, went to the Mayo
Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, in April, he used the false name Troy Jones, a
fake Social Security number and did not pay a $7,500 bill. The Maricopa County
Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the case before 37-year old DMX was
arrested on May 9 for drug possession and animal cruelty charges. In that case,
the authorities confiscated 12 pit bulls and found the remains of three others
buried at his home in north Phoenix.
The latest arrest is just one of many lawless actions the
rapper has been guilty of so far this year. In January, he was arrested for
allegedly speeding down a Phoenix,
AZ freeway. On June 27, DMX was
sent to jail for allegedly trying to buy drugs from an undercover police officer,
and earlier this month he was taken into custody for violating his bail conditions
in relation to an anterior incident on June 23 of being behind the wheel
without having a valid driver’s license.
On the recent arrest case, Arpaio said the bond had not been
set, as reported by the Associated Press. Cameron Morgan,
DMX’s lawyer, refused to make any comments.
