DJ AM had been released from the Doctors Hospital in Georgia and returned to Los Angeles, according to his representative’s announcement on Friday. AM's rep also said: "We ask that you continue respect his privacy as he rests and heals and mourns the loss of his friends." Chris Baker and Charles Still, friends of AM and of former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, who was also involved in the plane accident, died in the crash, along with the plane's pilot and co-pilot, just before midnight September 19.
The 35 year old DJ otherwise known as Adam Goldstein suffered second and third degree burns to his upper body and head when the private jet chartered by him along with Travis Barker apparently busted a tire during takeoff and burst into flames. The accident occurred on a Columbia airport.
In the meanwhile Jermaine Dupri commented to People.com about Barker’s condition saying that saying that Barker will be released from the hospital in "about two weeks." However the head of the burn hospital said it can take up to one year to heal from the second- and third-degree burns the men suffered. Barker has undergone several surgeries for burns over his torso and lower body, the Associated Press reported.
Debbie Hersman, spokeswoman and board member of the National Transportation Safety Board, said investigators recovered the cockpit's voice recorder and spent hours striving to obtain something relevant from the few minutes of conversation between the Learjet's pilots.
It seems that both Barker and DJ AM escaped the fire by sliding down the jet’s wing.
