Police in Tarpon Springs, Florida, have reportedly released the notes wrote by "D.C. Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey before she hanged herself. The results of the autopsy were also made public, police informed.

In the notes wrote to her mother and sister shortly before her death, Palfrey described her recent racketeering trial as a "modern day lynching."

"I cannot live the next 6 to 8 years behind bars for what you and I have both come to regard as this 'modern-day lynching' only to come out of prison in my late 50s a broken, penniless and very much alone woman," she wrote.

The authenticity of the notes written in large capital letters on yellow legal paper was confirmed by Palfrey’s mother and sister, who recognized her writing. On the front of the note Palfrey wrote "Do not revive (DNR). Do not feed under any circumstance."

According to the Pinellas County medical examiner's Office which made the necropsy, the death was a suicide. A final report will be released once the toxicology tests are carried out.

There is speculation that the "D.C. Madam", operator of a Washington escorts service, was “silenced” by important clients who feared their names might be revealed in connection with the escort ring.

However, investigators from the Tarpon Springs Police Department reportedly didn’t found evidence indicating anything else than a suicide by hanging, said Capt. Jeffrey P. Young.

In the note, Palfrey asked her 76-year-old mother, Blanche Palfrey, for forgiveness:

"Mom… I sincerely apologize for any pain which I have caused you in this lifetime. Additionally, I can't sufficiently express to you how badly I feel for this burden I am leaving you with here.”

The 52-year-old "D.C. Madam" was waiting to be sentenced on June 25 on charges of federal racketeering. She had been convicted on April 15 of running a Washington area call-girl ring.

In court, Palfrey said she did not know that her female employees were performing sex acts with clients and were compensated for that.

Palfrey operated the prostitution ring for 13 years. The average price clients were paying was of 250 U.S. dollars for 90 minutes with a female escort. Palfrey’s escort ring had clients such as Senator David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, and Randall Tobias, a former deputy secretary of state.
