Although no one was even expecting this, the 2003 movie
“Daddy Day Care” has got a sequel on the way. It has been titled “Daddy Day
Camp” and it features actors such as Cuba Gooding Jr., Josh McLerran, Paul Rae
and others and it was directed by Fred Savage.
However, “Daddy Day Camp” seems to be even more terrible
than the previous movie, which was barely watchable too and for actor Cuba
Gooding Jr. playing in this comedy appears to be one of the worse choices he
has ever done. The actor has taken over as the same character as Eddie Murphy
played in 2003 in “Daddy Day Care”.
Without even probably thinking why fellow
actor Eddie Murphy has left it aside, Cuba Gooding Jr. has explainable agreed
to star in “Daddy Day Camp” as Charlie. Even Jeff Garlin, who played in “Daddy
Day Care” the role of Phil, Charlie’s buddy, has been replaced by another
actor, Paul Rae.
Anyway, the 2007 sequel features the same characters,
Charlie and Phil, who have decided to buy Driftwood, which is a run-down camp
that Charlie had attended when he was a child. And because no one wants to come
to their camp, only Charlie’s son and some other kids end up at Driftwood. They
will be continually irritated by the children from Camp Canola,
which is just up the road and welcomes only rich kids, whi are playing with ATVs
and water jets.
So, a contest between the two camps that should take place
is Charlie and Phil’s last chance for not closing the camp. But not even now
the comedy’s action does move a bit As you can imagine, in the end everybody
will learn some valuable lessons about fair-play and the differences between
people.
Of course, there are some good moments, but everything is
flooded by an avalanche of pee, puke and poop jokes. That’s how the Fred
Savage’s directorial debut becomes a failing project.
However, it’s Cuba Gooding Jr. who remains the most
disappointing person, as he is a Oscar-winning actor (he won the best
supporting actor Oscar for his work in the 1996 film "Jerry Maguire.")
accepting to join such a movie.
