The media frenzy about Beckham's family arrival in America is far
from over. Although he hasn’t played yet an official match under the colors of his
new club, LA Galaxy, Beckham is making headlines in the entertainment magazines.
This time because the A-list couples Tom Cruise and Katie
Holmes, and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are to hold a Welcome to America
party Sunday for the glamourous British newcomers.
According to media reports, invitations to the party at the
Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Los Angeles were printed on red velvet
with gold lettering and have been sent out to a 600-person, invitation-only
list.
The list is a real Who’s Who in Holloywood and among those
invited are Oprah Winfrey, George
Clooney, Jim Carrey, Anjelica Huston, Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, producers
Jerry Bruckheimer and Brian Grazer, Warner Bros studio boss Alan Horn and
Universal Pictures chief Ron Meyer.
"This is the hardest party to get into," said one
person with knowledge of the affair. "It's A-list only. And no
press."
In other news, the British players has signed a agreement
with Fox Soccer Channel for a documentary series called David Beckham's Soccer USA, set to
debut on Wednesday, July 25 at 9PM ET.
"David Beckham's arrival is a tremendous milestone in U.S.
soccer history, and Fox Soccer Channel is intent on covering his impact on the
game from every possible angle," said David Sternberg, executive vice
president and general manager of Fox Soccer Channel. "David Beckham's
Soccer USA
will provide an insider's look at his performance with the Los Angeles Galaxy."
Beckham will play his first match with LA Galaxy this
Saturday against the English club Chelsea.
