Court Decision: Britney Spears Will Remain Under Her Father’s Care

James Spears, Britney Spears’ father will remain in charge of his daughter’s affairs, at least until 2009. According to The Associated Press, Thursday, a judge extended the conservatorship over the pop star’s affairs for another five months, meaning that her father and a lawyer would continue handling her businesses and other legal matters.

Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner Reva Goetz decided to extend the conservatorship but said that it could end before 2009, depending on the progress made by Britney Spears. The judge will be informed in October of how the singer is doing.

Reva Goetz also said that Britney Spears was not so happy about the extension, adding that she was “reluctantly agreeing” to the decision.

“Regarding the conservatorship of the person, I understand that Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend those letters,” Goetz said, according to E! Online.

James Spears, 56, was named temporary conservator of the pop star’s affairs in February. Two months ago Britney Spears’ attorney Samuel Ingham testified that the singer was not in condition to attend legal proceedings, adding that they could also be “harmful to her.”

After being hospitalized two times in January, it was necessary to receive the help of someone close to her. James Spears gets to decide the persons his daughter gets to see and he has also hired security guards to watch her all the time. James Spears and another lawyer have control over her estate.

Even if Britney Spears is not so excited about more time with “dad,” the fact remains that, since James Spears came into the scene, the singer seems to have gotten thing under control, as she managed to gain more time with her two children Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Her professional life is also doing well, as the singer filmed a video for Madonna’s upcoming concert tour and was also nominated for Best Female Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on September 7.

Regarding Sam Lutfi, the bad influence in Britney’s life, things are over between the two.

“Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama ‘Sam’ Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future,” said Spears’ attorney Samuel Ingham, reported The Associated Press.
