"Man on Wire” is a documentary on a Frenchman's 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin towers. The 24-year-old Frenchman crossed the distance eight times and was very happy about his achievement.

Philippe Petit spent 45 glorious minutes walking a tightrope between the tops of the north and south towers, 1,300 feet high. Made by director James Marsh, it‘s got what it takes to be considered a classical movie as well as the pace of a thriller. The documentary states that one should pay attention to the things he thinks he knows everything about.

The actual "coup,'' as Petit likes to call it, required months of preparation. Petit had already done high-wire stunts at Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sydney Harbor Bridge when he began to plan how he and several accomplices would enter the WTC. Petit was arrested immediately after the stunt

This memorable event took place two days before President Nixon resigned. When he boarded his helicopter he said: "I wish I had the publicity that Frenchman had." So the implications of Petit’s deed are more powerful than we ever expected.

He is of the opinion that "Life should be lived on the edge of life." "Man on Wire" being a primer on just what that means.

Marsh makes "Man on Wire" a celebration of creativity, friendship, commitment and finally just one man and his dream. We see him so close to death and just because he took the risk he became immortal.

The Movie brings the World Trade Center back to life and it is a very subtle reminder of the events which happened on September 11.

The film won both Sundance's jury prize and its audience award for world documentary
