Friday, in an orange booth at the local Taco Bell in Normal, Illinois, Paul and Caragh Brooks exchanged vows as the other customers at the fast-food were ordering their tacos and burritos and employees were putting up hot sauce packets labeled with the phrase „Will you marry me?” and decorating the restaurant with streamers and balloons.
The bride wore a $15 hot pink dress for her big day, while the entire ceremony only amounted to approximately $200.
Customers witnessed Ryan Green of Normal, a friend of the two newly-weds who had been ordained online, administer the vows wearing a simple T-shirt.
Caragh Brooks, 21, of Australia, and Paul Brooks, 30, met on an Internet dating Web site and they wrote to each other and talked on the phone for nine months before the bride decided to move to the United States.
Paul said that he and Caragh had the same interests and viewpoints and that their outlooks upon almost anything were very alike. He proposed to Caragh on New Year’s Eve and the two got married at Taco Bell because they both liked spending time at the fast-food.
Restaurant manager Carl Hamlow said he had never expected Taco Bell to come to host a wedding.
