A tragic event shocked Tracy, San Francisco after a 17-year-old boy, severely bruised and beaten, with a chain shackled to his ankle, stumbled into a gym, saying that he had just escaped the ones that had been holding him captive. Upon taking the boy into custody and questioning him, the police managed to find out enough details in order to narrow down the suspect list. Police were able to arrest two of the suspects on Monday, namely Kelly Lau Schumacher, aged 30, and Michael Schumacher, aged 34, according to Tracy police spokesman Matt Robinson.
The couple were arrested, taken into custody and held for questioning. They were picked up from the same house in Tracy where the 17-year-old battered boy had been allegedly held against his will. Their home was searched close to midnight on Monday, search during which the investigators found further evidence regarding the implication of the couple in the boy’s kidnapping and battering. As a result of the investigation, the couple is now charged with torture, kidnapping and child abuse.
The boy that stumbled half-naked, in an emaciated state, in a gym on Monday has apparently run away from the foster home he was in last year, situated in Sacramento, which is 70 miles north of Tracy. There is no question regarding the validity of his statement – his emaciated, battered state and the chain around his ankle confirm the fact that the boy had indeed been held against his will. Apparently the boy was picked up after he ran away from the foster home, and according to his statement, he had been held against his will for about a year.
