The new leader of the Country Music Awards nominations is none other than Brad Paisley. The man is last year’s honorable winner of two Grammys, an Entertainer Of The Year trophy and that of male vocalist. His “Waitin’ on a Woman”, is also a finalist for record, song and video of the year as well as his collaboration with Keith Urban in making 'Start a Band' runs for vocal event of the year.
Heidi Newfield, the former “Trick Pony” vocalist, released her first solo album last year, and this year gets five nominations, including Top Female Vocalist and Best Single, with her ode to the late Johnny and June Carter Cash suggestively called “Johnny & June,” which was nominated for the Song Of The Year category.
Carrie Underwood, the former winner of “American Idol,” also managed to win a Grammy on Sunday. For this ceremony she has been nominated for three awards, including for that of being the sole female entry for Entertainer Of The Year award.
This means she is up facing really great names such as four-time winner Kenny Chesney, George Strait or Keith Urban, whom if she overcomes, will bring her a victory similar to that of Loretta Lynn or Reba McEntire.
There are many who received two nominations each, namely Taylor Swift, Trace Adkins, Brooks & Dunn, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, James Otto, Jake Owen, Taylor Swift and Sugarland. Those who received four a piece were George Strait and Jamey Johnson.
Keith Urban has not skipped nominations either, as they include entertainer of the year, top male vocalist and vocal event of the year for “Start a Band”.
During the CBS live broadcast of the show on Wednesday all nominations will be read by Jessica Simpson, LeAnn Rimes, Kellie Pickler and Julianne Hough.
