HTC will be the first Android phone, and is expected to come
out this September, an unofficial T-Mobile blog reports, breaking rumors that
the first Android phone won’t become available earlier than 2009.
Well, according to this rumor, the Android phone, known as
the G1, will cost approximately $399 in the United States. The price will even
go as low as $150 for T-mobile customers during the pre-sale, the same
unofficial source speculates.
OK, let’s play along: we’re getting one step closer to the
Android, and we’ll be able to get our hands on it for $150 only in the pre-sale
week, after which the price will go up to $250. For the rest of the craving
customers, the Android phone is said to have a nationwide release by
mid-October.
The Android phone is reportedly coming up on HTC Dream (but
will probably change it’s name to G1). There are of course some good sides to
it, and bad sides as well.
From what I’ve seen on the video that has been circulating
on the Internet, the phone comes with touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, and it’s
white…which appears to be one of the three color variants for G1, besides black
and brown. The G1 will also come with a 3.0 megapixel camera.
The phone is 3G enabled, and will apparently require a
T-Mobile data plan whose price continues to remain a mystery. Furthermore, it
looks like Google is also making a little advertising machine from its Android,
by supposedly requiring a Gmail account in order to use the phone.
More details on the HTC with Android OS are expected to come
out within the next few weeks, considering that we even have an unconfirmed release
date: September 17th.
