Corinne Bailey Rae’s Husband Dead of Possible Overdose

The husband of British soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae was found dead in a Leeds apartment Saturday around 3:15 p.m., West Yorkshire Police reported.

The saxophonist Jason Rae, 31, is suspected to have died of a drug overdose, but the results are still unclear and police is waiting for toxicology reports.

According to the Associated Press, West Yorkshire Police said that the officers in charge with investigating the death had arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of supplying drugs.

Jason Rae was a member of the Haggis Horns band. On its MySpace page, the band describes themselves as “an eight-piece live funk extravaganza,” who experiment with multiple styles of music.

The Haggis Horns have performed with Corinne Bailey Rae, Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson.

“Hot Damn!”, their debut album, was released last September.

Corinne Bailey Rae is a 29-year-old singer songwriter born in Leeds, who released her first album “Corinne Bailey Rae” in February 2006.  The album went number one in the UK charts and sold more than a million copies in the US. Her first hit “Put Your Records On” became popular in a very short time, and she also won a Grammy Award for “Album of the Year” in 2008, for her performance on Herbie Hancock’s album “River: The Joni Letters.” She also received two Mobo prizes.
