Rumors that Apple will add the copy-paste feature to the iPhone at the ongoing South by South (SXSW) 2009 week at Austin, Texas, were confirmed by Digg.com founder, Kevin Rose.
There are rumors about several heavily-requested features for the new iPhone OS 3.0 and one of the most requested was the copy-paste feature. During a
live episode of Diggnation at the Austin festival, Rose said iPhone would do that.
He not only confirmed that Apple’s new OS for the iPhone will include the copy-paste feature, but also gave details about how it will function. Apparently, users would have to double-tap the word or words to bring them up the device’s magnifying glass and extend them to cover the text and then perform the copy-paste action.
It is not sure whether the 3.0 version of the OS will include a cut-paste feature.
Rose also said that Apple’s software enhancements over the year will bring the iPhone to a level comparable to the Palm Pre, which enables users to tap a button in order to switch apps and also run multiple apps at the same time. The Digg.com founder also said something about multitasking, but was interrupted.
Bad news for those who are expecting video capture from the new OS, Rose said this won’t be included in the 3.0.
The copy-paste has been available so far on the jail broken iPhones through an app called Clippy, courtesy of iSpazio.
