The person who apparently did a good deed by calling police
when she saw a confused Heather Locklear in her car at a Montecito parking lot Saturday
afternoon has now come under suspicion, identified by authorities as a former
Us Weekly staffer turned paparazzo.
Heather Locklear was arrested Saturday, Sept. 27, in Montecito, California
on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Police
were tipped by an anonymous citizen who called 911 to report that a woman who
appeared to be impaired was driving her car erratically.
The female caller said she had seen a “drunk” woman at the
supermarket who then entered her car, which had been left in the parking lot,
only to drive back and forth over a pair of sunglasses. Then the allegedly
drunk woman, identified by police as Heather Locklear, drove her car into a
traffic lane, State Route 192, but soon parked and thus partially blocked the
lane.
Locklear was taken to the California Highway Patrol’s Santa
Barbara-area office. She was tested for alcohol consumption and later released,
without having to post bail.
She was not under the influence of alcohol and toxicology
test results will only be available in a few weeks.
The past year has been a difficult period for Heather
Locklear. The former “Melrose Place” actress’s
life was front-page material this spring when another 911 call was made
concerning her. A person claiming to be her doctor alerted the dispatch center
that Locklear was trying to commit suicide.
Authorities went to the actress’s home and found her to be
fine. Her publicist stated at the time that she had not requested any medical
assistance. A couple of months later though, Locklear checked into a medical
facility in Arizona,
seeking help for anxiety and depression. She spent four weeks there.
While the 47-year-old actress has been the focal point of interest
in the current arrest, the seemingly benevolent caller has now come to the
attention of authorities. Identified as Jill Ishkanian, the concerned citizen
has a troubled story of her own.
She is a former employee of Us Weekly who, according to
reports, currently works as a paparazzo and is under FBI investigation for illegitimately
accessing US Weekly’s computer system to track down celebrities.
A number of questions naturally arise. Was Ishkanian
following Heather Locklear this weekend? Did she engage in any dubious activity
at the time, such as taking photographs of a woman who was visibly not well?
The former reporter’s attorney has told Access Hollywood
that his client was not on paparazzo duty at the time and that she just
“happened” to be in the same place as Heather Locklear.
The lawyer also dismissed reports that his client had hacked
into Us Weekly’s computer system.
