“The Office” and “Get Smart” star Steve Carell now has his own production company, Variety reported.
The Golden Globe- and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning actor has inked an exclusive first-look contract with Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie production company will generate and deal out films through Carell's "Carousel Productions."
Carell said he plans to help his friends make their own movies, just like another successful comedian, Adam Sandler, did with his "Happy Madison Productions" shingle.
The deal with Warner Bors. Pictures - signed for three years - came after "Get Smart" cashed in $130 million in the United States and $230 million worldwide for the company and for Village Roadshow Pictures. The company has already decided to make a sequel, but it won’t be part of the new overall deal.
"My idea was to partner with friends of mine, people I trusted, with whom I share a certain sensibility," Carell told Daily Variety.
"I have some ideas for films, but I’ve gotten to know so many people who are funny, talented and fertile with ideas that I’m confident this very strong base of friendships will lead to projects," the 46-year-old actor added.
Carell is currently involved in the making of the fifth season of "The Office." He is also set to co-star with Tina Fey in next year’s the 20th Century Fox comedy "Date Night" in which the two will play a married couple.
