Internet provider, Comcast, has announced on Wednesday that it will begin offering faster internet connections in selected areas, for both home use and businesses. Comcast’s new offer, named 50Mbps Extreme, will offer speeds of approximately 50 Mbps, which allows the user to benefit from faster download and upload, and from a quicker response time when surfing the net. This high-speed Internet connection will allow the user to download a HD movie in only 16 minutes, a regular movie in just 5 minutes and upload certain things faster than ever. Comcast has announced that the new offer will be available in areas like some parts of New England, Boston included, southern New Hampshire, certain parts of Philadelphia, New Jersey and Minnesota’s Twin Cities.
As far as prices go, the new service is a little bit more expensive but it’s worth the money. For home users the 5oMbps Extreme will cost $139.95 a month and for businesses $189.95 a month. The offer also includes 10 Mbps upstream service for residential users and businesses will have access to extra features and support. Comcast is one of the largest Internet providers in the country and with this new offer, the company will be able to go further into zones dominated by other providers like Verizon or AT&T.
However, the prices for the new 50Mbps Extreme sound expensive, but they are quite competitive as other companies offer less for about the same amount of money. Verizon has also launched its 50 Mbps offer, which costs between $89.95 and $139.95 a month, while AT&T remains at its 10 Mbps offer.
