British alternative rock band Coldplay had to postpone the start of their US tour due to production delays. The Londoners announced the postponement on the band’s website, apologizing to their fans and explaining that the first two weeks of shows will have to be rescheduled.
"We're very sorry, but unfortunately Coldplay have had to move the dates of some of the previously announced US shows,” the statement wrote.
The North American tour of the British rockers called Viva la Vida will be delayed by two weeks. Their first show will be July 14 in Los Angeles instead of June 29 in Philadelphia.
The final date remained the same - August 4. The final show will take place in Boston and not Chicago, as initially planned.
Fans who bought tickets can either opt for a refund or keep their tickets which are good for any rescheduled shows.
The delay will not affect a series of free concerts Coldplay is planning to play in London, Barcelona and New York in June, the group’s manager said.
The rockers’ fourth album Viva La Vida or Death of All His Friends will be released tomorrow (June 12) and is likely to be one of the biggest selling albums of the year.
Coldplay has been one of the most commercially successful bands of the new millennium, selling over 30 million albums. The band is also known for its hit singles, such as "Yellow", "Speed of Sound" and the Grammy Award-winning "Clocks.
