Coldplay Has Flowers for Fans. Sort of.

Each loving fan will receive a pretty “Violet Hill” from British super group Coldplay, as a taste of what is to come: their feverishly awaited fourth studio album, “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.”

One only has to enter Coldplay’s official website, type in their email address, zip code and country of origin and the song “Violet Hill” is promised to come free of charge. The special offer is only available for one week, starting at 7:15 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 29, before it goes on sale at digital retailers, the Associated Press reports.

Additional information will be available on the website regarding Coldplay’s free shows at the Brixton Academy in London on June 16 and at Madison Square Garden on June 23. Fans wishing to get their hands on free tickets for the concerts need only keep close to the website to learn how to win the tickets.

The band also announced on Monday that the British release of “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends” has been advanced four days, to June 12, when the album will be released around the world.

The stream of gifts continues, as a free 7-inch vinyl single of “Violet Hill” will also be given away on the cover of music weekly NME on May 7. The vinyl version will also include the track “A Spell A Rebel Yell,” which will not be available anywhere else, BBC News reports.

“Viva La Vida” is being released via Capitol in North America on June 17 and EMI in the U.K.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told Billboard.com earlier this month that “Viva La Vida” stays true to the band’s ideal of making music “that can be sung to the rafters.”

“We’re still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters. We just wanted to present them differently,” Martin said.

And for this, he and band mates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion enlisted the help of Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, who co-produced the album and “adorned it with grandiose embellishments the likes of which have never been heard before on a Coldplay album,” notes Billboard.

Drummer Will Champion added that working with Eno, best known as the father of modern ambient music and having associated his name with the likes of Roxy Music, Talking Heads and U2, had the best of influences.

“Brian has this amazing ability to demystify wonderful music and make it seem very achievable. We weren’t afraid to try anything.”

How very promising that must sound for fans famished for another Coldplay album!
