Another bad-hair movie hits the theaters, except this time it’s hilarious in a good way and also shockingly absurd, like any other good film from the Coen Brothers.
“Burn After Reading” is their latest creation starring John Malkovich, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins and Joel Coen's wife, Frances McDormand. All these overwhelming names in the same room make it sound like something really serious and deep. Yeah, right! Seriously funny, maybe.
All the actors play completely different characters than the ones we would see suited for them, except of course, for Mr. Clooney, who portrays the same old Pretty-Boy-Getting-All-The-Girls, but this time with a silly self-parodying twist to it- the girls are all crazy and he just wants to get out of the mess and crawl back into his wife’s arms.
Pitt, on the other hand, is not only funny, but seems completely unaware of how goofy he looks, considering he is one of the sexiest men on Earth. He really enjoys letting himself go and making fun of himself playing fitness trainer Chad Feldheime, a “D’oh!” kind of slick trying to blackmail a former CIA agent ( John Malkovich), so that his neurotic middle-aged colleague Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) could raise money for that plastic surgery that would make her seem more attractive for the Internet husband market.
The Coen Brothers really took comedy to the next level by throwing in some international intrigue and secret service operations to the already absurd melting pot, adding a dash of insane coincidence and a twist of black humor, garnishing it all up with Hollywood’s best faces and worst hair. Enjoy!
