For “ER’s” final series, George Clooney agreed to return on the set along with his long time love on the show, played by Julianna Margulies, and tape a scene this week for the long-running medical drama's final season.
Clooney starred as Dr. Doug Ross from 1994 to 1999 in the long-running series before leaving to pursue his incredible movie career. Clooney is reported to start filming his scenes on Thursday and Friday this week on the Warner Bros. set in Los Angeles.
Clooney concentrated in making movies fulltime for a year and went back to appear in ER in 2000 to tie up the story since Clooney's Dr. Doug Ross character had twin daughters with Nurse Carol Hathaway (played by Julianna Margulies) who had to leave the show. Costar and friend Noah Wyle earlier said Clooney would appear in the show if his schedule permits. And the time has come for this miracle to happen.
His return is taking place now despite previous assurances from Clooney's camp and ER executive producer John Wells that the two-time Sexiest Man Alive didn't have any room in his schedule to mosey his way onto the set. It is not yet known in what episode or even how long Clooney will be returning for, but our guess is he'll pop up alongside Nurse Hathaway in the series finale.
The man that People Magazine named “Sexiest Man Alive” twice (in 1997 and 2006) most recently appearance on the big screen in “Leatherheads” (which he also directed, produced and co-wrote) and Joel and Ethan Coen’s “Burn After Reading.” He also stars in the forthcoming movie “Men Who Stare at Goats” based on the nonfiction book by the same title.
