On Friday Hillary Clinton's camp was trying to convince the
voters that she is now stronger from her debate performance in Las
Vegas, and that the bad weeks were left behind.
Clinton’s
campaign is a set of video scenes showing her in the debates as she defends
herself against her rivals. The videos were used for campaign contributions by
a Web appeal, Reuters reports.
Her campaign's Web site posted a statement that was saying: "In
the November 15 Democratic debate in Las Vegas,
when there was the most at stake, Hillary put on her best performance. She was
prepared, firm, and 100 percent ready to lead America.”
At the debate in Las Vegas,
Clinton attacked two of her rivals,
Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, saying that
Edwards was throwing mud.
Her campaign was defensive lately mostly because of her own
missteps.
Obama and Edwards didn’t cede any ground to Clinton.
All three are in race in Iowa.
Here, on January 3, begins the state-by-state battles to pick the Democratic
and Republican candidates who later will run in the election on November 4, 2008.
Clinton's debate regarding of how to keep the Social
Security retirement benefits system solvent in coming decades was challenged by
Obama’s campaign through a letter written by an Iowa citizen, Tod Bowman of
Maquoketa.
Bowman said that Obama stated that he would increase Social
Security taxes for high-income earners. He also said that regarding this matter
Clinton attacked Obama although she
told Bowman, at an event on October 7 in his hometown, that she considered
herself doing the same thing.
Bowman asked: "It just gives the impression that you're
not being straight with people about where you stand. And if you won't be
straight with us on the campaign trail, how can we be sure you'll be honest
with the American people when you're president?"
