This is the stuff movies are made of: American Idol hero
Clay Aiken and his platonic best friend have welcomed their first child into
the world.
Former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken and music
producer Jaymes Foster, who is also his best friend, welcomed a healthy baby
boy Friday, August 8, at an hour that struck the singer as auspicious – 8:08.
An excited message on his website reads: “HE’S HERE! My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited
to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One
middle name. One last name.)”
“Wow ... 8:08 ... 08/08/08,”
the 29-year-old first-time father adds. “The little man is healthy, happy, and
as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also.”
Aiken also proudly shares that Parker was born at a hospital
in North Carolina, weighing in at
6 lbs 2 oz and measuring 19 inches. “The Aiken family, the
Foster family, and the Parker family are all thrilled.”
Parker is the middle name of grandmother Faye, Clay Aiken’s
mother. She was first to announce the addition to the family by telling Lynda
Loveland of Raleigh, N.C., TV station WRAL about the birth.
The new grandma also said baby Parker has “dark hair” and
that Clay is “smiling from ear-to-ear” about the news, reports People.com.
News of Jaymes Foster’s pregnancy first appeared in late May, when it was
confirmed that she became pregnant via in vitro fertilization. Foster, 50, and
Aiken, 29, are not romantically involved. They are however best friends, after
meeting on American Idol in 2003 and working together.
Foster, sister of famous music producer David Foster, has
produced several of Aiken’s albums.
Jaymes Foster has been divorced for some years now and has
no children. Clay Aiken has no other children either. The two will raise Parker
together.
