Former American Idol participant Clay Aiken and music producer Jaymes Foster welcomed their first child. The baby boy saw the daylight for the first time on Friday morning. The news was confirmed by a statement posted on the American pop singer’s Website.
"My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.)," the statement wrote.
Aiken, the "American Idol" runner-up, and his platonic baby-making partner welcomed their 6 lbs., 2 oz. and 19 inches long baby in North Carolina this morning. The news was first given this morning by Aiken’s proud mother turned grandma. Faye Aiken broke the news in an interview with told Raleigh radio station WRAL pompously announcing that her son’s producer gave birth to son Parker Foster Aiken at 8:08 a.m. in an "undisclosed location."
Among the details given by Faye Aiken about the new-born baby was the fact that it hasn’t inherited his father’s fiery red mop. He has dark hair. The mom, dad and baby all are doing fine, the proud grandma added.
Aiken and 50-year-old music producer Foster met when 29-year-old Clay appeared on "American Idol." The two have been best of friends since then as she worked on several Aiken albums, including A Thousand Different Ways and On My Way Here.
Although the two are not romantically involved, they plan to raise the baby together. Jaymes Foster - sister of legendary music producer David Foster - was impregnated in May via in vitro fertilization.
