Sense Networks released on Monday a new, rather unique,
online tool named Citysense, which will help its users discover and select many
nightlife activities and information.
"Citysense demonstrates the power of combining
anonymous, aggregate location data for social navigation," said Sandy
Pentland, chief privacy advocate and co-founder of Sense Networks, according to
InformationWeek.
The feature works as a mobile map application and offers
information about the best places for having a good time. The company’s officials
believe that their release could become a very useful tool for all people
traveling around, needing just one touch of a button to find places with their
preferred music and crowds. According to the company, users will receive access
to a real time map, which will feature spots emitted by cell phones and other
devices. The density of spots shown on the screen will offer an image about
the activity at the party site and people will be able to make up their minds about
joining or not the event.
Apparently, users will be able to include their opinions and
feedback about the places they visited and the company will share the data
under complete anonymity, never collecting e-mail addresses or phone numbers
and also, never demanding passwords.
Citysense can already be downloaded at Citysense.com by all BlackBerry
Perl 8100, 8120, 8130; Gamma Ray 8800, 8820, 8830; and Curve 8300, 8310, 8320
and 8330 owners and a new version for the Apple iPhone is currently being
developed and will soon be released once the iPhone App Store opens.
