Excepting the fact that Cisco
Systems is very proud of its Telepresence high def conferencing system, the
company also believes that video applications represent the future of the
Internet growth in five to seven years from now.
With the occasion of a press
lunch at Cisco’s annual C-Scape analyst conference from San Jose, California,
the company’s Emerging Markets Technology Group’s vice president Marthin De
Beer proudly said that he was not aware of a first-time videoconferencing
customer Cisco had lost to a competitor in the past six months. According to as
far as Marthin De Beer knew, his company has been winning every “green”
opportunity, while any of its old customers has neither switched to another
vendor.
De Beer’s statement came on
Tuesday, during the C-Scape analyst conference, where executives gathered for
sharing opinions about the company’s future business, which seems to be a
really big hit. According to De Beer, it seems that Cisco has brilliant plans and
big dreams for the future, as it expects to be doing a $50 billion business in
video by 2013.
Thus, one of the most profitable
and popular high tech companies, Cisco Systems, bets on video applications as
the future of the next generation of Internet. On Monday, the company announced
that it had already made 100 deals with large enterprises to deploy its Telepresence
high def conferencing system throughout their organizations.
By mixing high def video with
high-quality audio and presentations, Telepresence was designed to create the
impression of live meeting. Thanks to this new technology, companies are able
to cut travel costs and to keep more in touch with their customers from all
around the world.
According to Cisco’s Chairman and
CEO John Chambers, the company itself tried Telepresence and it was a success.
