Fifty-three-year-old Dexer Ford was accused of attacking and raping a sleepwalker. On Tuesday morning, before his trial, he pleaded guilty to charges of rape and felonious assault. He was sentenced to 10 years of prison.

According to WLWT, the homeless man was accused of attacking a sleepwalking student from the University of Cincinnati near the Taft Road exit. Some people who were passing by stopped Ford.

At first, Ford was charged with kidnapping, felonious assault, attempted rape and two counts of rape, reported FOXNews.

Authorities said that the girl, 24, was sleepwalking when Ford attacked her. They said that the victim was epileptic and she had a seizure that got her all confused. That’s why she got out of her home and on the streets.

The attack happened on November 9, 2007.

Ford’s attorney initially said that the sex was consensual.

The victim said in court that the past months were a nightmare and that she learned a lot about epilepsy. She hoped that her case would make people “more aware of epilepsyand other similar disorders, reported WLWT.

Apparently Ford is HIV positive and also schizophrenic. He will spend 10 years in jail for his actions.
