Even though Google’s Chrome browser keeps slipping in market
shares, the company’s mission to make a name for itself in this segment was
accomplished. A few weeks ago, around the time that the launch was scheduled,
the new browser and its new features were on everybody’s lips, as it promised a
whole new experience when it comes to Internet browsing.
As expected, there were and still are many flaws that demand
fixing, many features that demand integration, but considering the fact that it
is just the company’s first step, Web surfers should definitely give a chance
to the upcoming upgraded versions. Google’s intentions target an easier,
faster, more pleasurable Internet access for users which would definitely lead
to a boost in its incoming revenue.
Its initial share of the worldwide browser market managed to
reach a high point of 0.85 percent, dropping ever since. At this point, users seem
to prefer their old familiar browsers, as they are not willing to deal with the
errors and issues that a new browser might bring up. Many gave it a go out of
curiosity and returned after a few days to their regular browser. Some called
it interesting and gave it a positive review, but also stated that they will
wait for the new versions before deciding on a permanent browser change.
For now, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s Firefox
and also Apple’s Safari browser have no real competition, each strongly holding
on to its user-base. Still, considering Google’s ambitious plans, it should not
come as a surprise to anyone if the browser’s ‘top three’ will include over the
next few years Google’s updated release.
