During the first interview done after her surgery for
dealing with breast cancer, Christina Applegate appeared on ABC News’ Good
Morning America relaxed and at ease, openly discussing the details of her
experience, which she referred to as an emotional roller coaster.
She explained that after finding out the terrible diagnostic,
the only solution that she considered logical was to have a prophylactic double
mastectomy, which means that both her breasts were removed and over the coming
months she will undergo reconstructive surgery.
She even joked about it, saying that she will have cute breasts
until she will turn 90. "I'll have the best boobs in the nursing home.
I'll be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table," she said.
She explained that there are hundreds of thoughts going
through a person’s mind while dealing with something like this, with a wide
range of emotions surfacing. She said that all the crying, screaming and getting
angry is part of the healing process and that she wanted to send out a message
to everyone going through it that it is OK to cry.
The general vibe of the interview was very positive, with the
Emmy-nominee showing that she considers life extremely valuable and that it
will take more than this to put her down. She said: "I love living, and I
really love my life," adding that she told herself "I have to get out
there and make this a positive."
The actress is best known for her role in the TV series Married
With Children, where she played Kelly Bundy. She also appeared in several
movies such as Just Visiting, The Sweetest Thing, Employee of the Month and
View From the Top.
