Christie Brinkley finds herself in the position to share her
divorce and other details regarding her life with her ex-husband Peter Cook. She also said that
she didn’t want to make him go through a public divorce. So, who is forcing
her?
Apparently the
“unfiltered truth” made her take this decision, as her lawyer said
yesterday, according to Newsday.
Attorney Robert S. Cohen of Manhattan said that the former supermodel
wanted to restore her image. Cohen is representing Brinkley in the court fight
against Hamptons
architect Peter Cook.
“Christie and her family have been the victims of anonymous
leaks containing innuendos, rumors and falsehoods surrounding Peter's atrocious
behavior,” said Cohen, reported Newsday. He also said that Cook’s affair with an
18-year-old girl was “only the tip of the iceberg.” I can’t imagine why anybody
would cheat on Brinkley.
Brinkley, 54, and Cook, 45, were married for ten years. She
filled the divorce in July 2006 and accused her husband of cheating on her
with, of course, his 18-year-old assistant. Like most wealthy people, they had
a prenuptial agreement. Cook wants three boats and several East
End properties.
Even though Theresa Mari of Huntington, a court-appointed
law guardian, said that the exposure could harm the children, Sailor, 9, and
Jack, 12. Moreover, Cook’s attorney said that Brinkley’s decision made it look
like she didn’t think of her children interest. Jack is Brinkley’s son for her
marriage to Richard Taubman. He was adopted by Cook.
Regarding this issue, Cook said that he was worried about
his kids.
Brinkley told reporters that she was still hoping to take the easy
way out and settle things “privately and outside the courtroom,” reported Newsday.
