The new trend of reviving old trilogies has taken over the Terminator series as well, with the fourth installment of the multi-billion dollar franchise "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," starring Christian Bale, already having started production in New Mexico.
The new Terminator movie doesn't have the beloved cast of Austrian-born actor Arnold Swartzenegger and Linda Hamilton, nor is James Cameron directing. In fact, it pretty much looks like a restarting of the series with new everything from robots to director, but the movie sounds promising, especially with Bale having taken over the coveted John Connor role.
Also starring Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star, "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" finds Connor leading the rebellion against Skynet, unaware Marcus Wright, played by Sam Worthington, who wasn't a part of the prophecy Connor has known his whole life. Wright can only say that his last memory is of being on death row, and it's up to Connor to decide whether Marcus is a stowaway from the past or sent from the future.
Directed by McG from a script by Michael Ferris and John Brancato, the flick started shooting back on May 5, according to Warner Bros., with the bulk of filming taking place at the Albuquerque Studios and on location throughout the Land of Enchantment.
Dropping us into the story 14 years before John's death in 2032, the movie, which is scheduled for a May 22, 2009, release, leaves plenty of wiggle room for sequels.
