New details have come out regarding the midnight altercation between Chris Brown and Rihanna that led to Brown being booked on a felony criminal threat charge on Sunday. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office asked police to do more investigative work before a decision is made on whether more charges will be filed in the domestic violence case against singer Chris Brown, according to a spokeswoman for the DA.
"I can confirm that the LAPD was at the DA's office and presented the case," a representative from the L.A. District Attorney's office told ABCNews.com Tuesday. "[The case is] regarding Chris Brown and that's all we're saying."
Brown turned himself in late Sunday evening and was charged with making criminal threats before being released on $50,000 bail.
Rihanna was treated for her injuries and is now in seclusion. As reported by Access Hollywood, in a 2007 interview with Giant magazine, Brown spoke candidly of his family’s history with alleged abuse. The magazine wrote, "When he was 11, the R&B star-to-be told his mother that he would go to jail for killing his allegedly abusive stepfather."
In the meantime, both stars have canceled upcoming appearances: The NBA has issued a statement that Brown will no longer participate in their All-Star Game events in Phoenix this weekend, while Rihanna backed out of a Friday night concert in Malaysia. Concert officials say the gig will be "rescheduled to a future date," which will be revealed within two weeks.
Moreover Rihanna's music label has canceled a posh birthday party they were planning to throw for the star on Feb. 20, E! has learned. A representative for the singer wouldn't comment on the recent cancellations, reiterating her previous statement: "Rihanna is well. Thank you for concern and support."
