After a week of silence following the alleged attack against his girlfriend Rihanna, R&B singer Chris Brown released a statement apologizing for his behavior, and saying he is already receiving a lot of help and counseling from his loved ones.
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person," said 19-year-old Brown, who was arrested last Sunday on suspicion of attacking a woman who was later identified as pop star Rihanna.
Furthermore, the statement said that a lot of the stuff published in the media, and on bogs was wrong, but he refused to disclose any other information about what exactly went wrong and what caused the physical altercation between him and Rihanna.
"Until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds," the statement added, referring to a Facebook post in which he allegedly implied it was Rihanna's fault for their brawl.
Brown's biological father, Clinton Brown, told People magazine that his son was remorseful over the incident, which allegedly left Rihanna with severe bruises. He said his son was very concerned with the situation and that he wanted to make sure Rihanna was doing ok.
While no one has gotten a hold of Rihanna yet, her father, Ronald Fenty, spoke to Usmagazine.com in Barbados about his 20-year-old daughter and said that she was doing "OK."
"She has support from both sides of the family, and I think she’ll come out and represent women and be a heroine. In the end, she’ll speak out," he said.
