Sunday night at the Grammy Awards, the joy and excitement of everybody present, especially of the winners that included Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and Jennifer Hudson, were somehow overshadowed by the absence of R&B star Chris Brown who was expected to give a performance during the event.
Despite this fact, Brown turned himself into Los Angeles police instead on Sunday night and was charged with with felony criminal threats resulting from a dispute with a woman earlier that day.
The singer was released after he posted $50,000 bail, while the case has been scheduled to be sent to the district attorney's office, where more charges could be brought to Chris Brown.
For the time being, the identity of the woman involved in the incident has yet to be disclosed, still according to the police, Brown and her had been in a vehicle in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles at approximately 12:30 a.m., when the victim claimed that the argument started.
Furthermore, police said that the woman had suffered visible injuries and that she had identified Brown as the one responsible.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a 911 call notifying of the incident, but when the authorities arrived at the scene, Brown had already left.
Citing police sources, the Los Angeles Times revealed that the victim in the incident had been singer Rihanna, Chris Brown’s girlfriend and fellow R&B performer. For the Grammy Awards, where she had been scheduled to perform, Rihanna was a no-show as well, just like Brown.
