China is well known for the continuous fight against pornography, a fight that had its peak in 2005 and later in 2007. It now seems that China is going to go another step forwards in the total banning of pornography and as anyone can imagine, the Internet is their biggest problem.
It’s relatively simple to access porn over the Internet, but China has an ace up its sleeve. Search sites, such as Google and Baidu, were requested to cut off search results inking towards porn sites. Recently the Chinese government has asked the two Internet search sites to do this more efficiently as people are still managing to enter porn sites, even though these are outlawed.
China has also banned horror movies as they believe, and they have a point, that these movies negatively influence the minds of children.
This might sound like good reasoning, but if china wants the world to think that as a country they are more open minded than believed, banning anything that might sound like a threat is not the way to go.
The new resolution is sponsored by seven government agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security, and the agencies vaguely threatened websites found guilty of spreading or even linking to pornography.
All in all, China is trying to eradicate pornography from their country, and the new resolution is surely an important step forwards. People are advised to report any sites sharing pornographic material or that are linking towards such material.
