Although many critics disagreed with this choice, Chikezie
was eliminated from “American Idol” on Wednesday night, leaving only nine
competitors in the race.
Chikezie was the first to be called by show host Ryan
Seacrest and was quickly sent to the bottom three stools.
The bottom three also included Syesha Mercado, which shocked
both Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, who had greatly praised Mercado’s
performance a night before.
Randy had actually referred to Mercado’s performance of "If
I Were Your Woman" as "stellar," "unbelievable" and "blazing
hot," while Paula simply called it "perfect."
Simon Cowell was the only one who said he had expected
Syesha to be part of the bottom three this week.
The night before, Chikezie Eze decided to follow his
intuition and his voice coach and chose a ballad, even though the judges had
advised him otherwise. He sang it well enough to be considered safe from being
kicked out, but Cowell called it "cheesy," especially due to the fact
that Chikezie hold out his hand to the waving chicks in the Mosh Pit.
Brooke White, who stopped into the song and restarted, in an
Idol first, was sent to safety by the judges.
Carly Smithson denied the rumours that she was pregnant,
declaring she had looked uncomfortable on stage Tuesday night because she was wearing
Spanx - tightening underwear.
Ramiele Malubay was probably “saved” by the fact she was
sick on Tuesday and the judges sympathized with her.
As Chikezie was one of the most energetic competitors and
had a warm personality, so he will probably be much missed in the show.
