Deftones bassist Chi Cheng has been reportedly hospitalized and is now in a come after being involved in a serious car crash. The musician’s state was confirmed by a statement released by Warner Bros. Records.
According to the company’s statement the musician is in a "serious but stable condition." The critical state the bassist is in was also confirmed by the band’s singer Chino Moreno, the Sacrament Bee reported.
"I don't know everything that's going on — I just know it's very serious," Moreno told the newspaper. "I'm on my way to be with his family, I'm pretty freaked out about it."
The car crash in which the 38-year-old bassist was involved took place on Monday in Santa Clara, Calif., Sacramento Bee reported.
Cheng has been working with the California rock band on their next album, “Eros,” which is scheduled for release in spring 2009 through Warner Bros. The band’s most recent live gig was in September in Peoria, Ariz. The band’s 2006 album, "Saturday Night Wrist," debuted at No. 10 on the U.S. pop charts.
Cheng has full support from his family. His 10-year-old Gabriel is at the hospital and all the band members also went at the San Jose hospital to be by his side.
