Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong put their differences aside and
decided that friendship is a very important thing and no fight is worth keeping
the two apart.
According to The Associated Press, the two are back in good terms and
they decided to plan their comedy tour after more than 25 years.
“We've gotten to the age where we don't feel like fighting
anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning,” said Marin.
They both agreed that they weren’t “getting any younger” and
it was the time to bury the hatchet. They also planned to reunite for their
first comedy tour in a very long time. They came up with some ideas and said that
a comedy tour would be “the most fun” and “the least hassle,” Cheech Marin, 62,
said.
Although they have tried to get back together before, they
always ended up fighting.
“It takes about 3 minutes for that to happen. There's this
veiled hatred. We've kind of resolved that. We've gotten to the age where we
don't feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the
beginning,” said Marin, according to The Associated Press.
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong broke up after they fight over
some creative differences.
Marin is hopeful that “dope humor” will make a comeback and
it will be as funny as it was in the 70’s.
“I think it's time for a revival of dope jokes. It's a much
bigger audience now, it's much more widespread and institutionalized,” said
Marin.
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong collaborated from 1972 to 1985
and released nine comedy albums and eight movies, including “Up in Smoke and Cheech
and Chong's Next Movie.” They were nominated for four Grammy Awards and won
one.
