Charlotte Officials still Searching for Missing Ex-Marine

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office continued their search for missing marine Eric Hall on Saturday.

Hall, 24, has been missing since the afternoon of Sunday, February 3rd. He has been back from Iraq for about three years and had been granted medical retirement by the Marine Corps. In June 2005, he was injured when a bomb exploded while he was on patrol in Fallujah, Iraq. He spent 13 weeks in the hospital, receiving treatment for damage to his right arm, left leg and hip and the left side of his abdomen.

Hall’s family believe the boy may be wandering in the nearby woods, as he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) under the impression that he is still fighting in Iraq, Fox News reported.

“If he went back to full military mentality he knows how to hide,” Kevin Hall, his father said.

“He’s a marine. He knows how to survive off the land and find food. We don’t feel he is dead. We want him back with us,” Courtney Birgle who is married to Hall’s cousin was quoted as saying by local media sources.

He had been staying at a relative’s home in Deep Creek, Fla., for about two weeks when he began hallucinating and having flashbacks.

Hall was last seen when he left the home on his motorcycle Sunday. The motorcycle was later found along a nearby roadside still running.

Hall’s family are asking for local support urging anyone possessing a SUV, ATV, four wheel drive, motorcycles to look for the young man. They think people with military experience can be of great help with tracking and understanding a Marine’s thought process.

Hall’s is a white man, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 160 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last wearing blue jeans, a plaid shirt and a black leather jacket. He has a scar on his left leg and numerous tattoos.

Anyone with information on Hall should call 941-639-0013.
