Prosecutors have dropped all charges against Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright who were both charged with interfering with police officers after a disturbance involving a crew member broke out. They were both pepper sprayed, and Jeffrey was tasered as well.
Brolin, Wright and five other crew members of the Oliver Stone film "W." were arrested on misdemeanor charges at the Stray Cat Club on July 12. The two actors just have to stay out of trouble with the law until March 11 so as to have all their charges dropped.
Famed Los Angeles attorney Blair Berk represented the actors and five others. His sole comment on the incident was that prosecutors in Shreveport have agreed to drop charges against the group within 60 days.
Brolin, who stars in the current film "Milk," played Bush in "W." Wright played U.S. statesman Colin Powell in "W." and portrayed a CIA agent in recent James Bond movies "Quantum of Solace" and "Casino Royale."
In a statement released by his publicist on Tuesday, Wright said: "These arrests should never have happened. Thankfully the prosecution was able to see that and dismiss all charges. Unfortunately, there are no winners here, but I remain hopeful that Shreveport officials will be encouraged to dig at the root causes of certain police incidents down there,”
Brolin and Wright were originally due to enter a plea today, but their arraignment was postponed last month to give the two sides time to work out a resolution. Neither actor was required to appear during a court hearing on Tuesday.
