Dr. Drew Pinsky, co-medical director of Aurora Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California, is believed to save patients’ lives. However, the situation seems a bit different.
Authorities found out that, in the last five months, three people have passed away at the Pasadena psychiatric hospital, whose chemical dependency program is co-directed by Pinsky. According to his statement to ABC, he had nothing to do with any of the patients’ care. He claimed that “these were not my patients.”
As maintained by the Los Angeles Times, Drew Pinsky was the only physician whose picture was posted on the facility website home page, but he had it removed on Thursday so as to keep himself away from the inquiry.
The three people who died were patients at the Aurora Las Encinas Hospital, ABC News' Los Angeles associate KABC reported. Two of the deaths were caused by drug overdoses, as indicated by coroner's records and the report carried out by inspectors for the state Department of Public Health. Also, a patient in the NASH House committed suicide by hanging himself from a beam made of wood.
At the same rehab center a rape was reported. A 14-year-old girl was sexually abused by another patient, aged 16, as hospital employees were taking a nap not far away.
The doctor said that people’s determination to relate him “with these situations is really becoming an egregious problem. United Press International reported that Pinsky had expressed his condolences to the families of the patients. He said his heart “goes out to families and anyone else who loses their family to addiction.”
Pinksy is best known for hosting “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” and for the radio talk show “Loveline.”
