VH1’s “Celebrity rehab” is set to start and share with
willing viewers the pain and struggle of 12 somewhat famous somebodies who are
not afraid to show the world their most humanly embarrassing moments.
The second season of Dr. Drew Pinsky’s televised behavior
therapy of would-be sober celebrities will also feature actor Gary Busey,
reports E! Online, as the understanding and compassionate mentor who has
already been through the highs and lows of rehab.
Busey can proudly and confidently say that he overcame his
cocaine addiction some 13 years ago and that he has been sober since. Who
better to understand the challenges and suffering of battling substance addiction
than someone who has already experienced them?
Among the 12 hopefuls Pinsky and Busey are to accompany and
guard towards sobriety are Sean Stewart, son of singer Rod Stewart, brother of
socialite Kimberly Stewart; model Amber Smith; actress Tawny Kitaen; Guns N’
Roses member Steven Adler and Rodney King.
Jeff Conaway returns for his second season, joined by first-season
“American Idol” finalist Nikki McKibbin.
Filming is reportedly already underway for the second season
of “Celebrity Rehab,” set to debut in October on VH1.
The first season of the interestingly-themed show featured actor
Daniel Baldwin, adult film actress actor Mary Carey, actress Brigitte Nielsen,
former “American Idol” contestant Jessica Sierra and others.
The new series will consist of eight hour-long episodes that
follow the participants’ intensive 21-day recovery process.
VH1 is prepared to pay expenses for participants who
complete the three-week program and go through another at least three months in
a treatment facility.
Pinsky, who is Medical Director of the
Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Southern California’s Las
Encinas Hospital as well as host of radio series “Loveline,” will probably welcome
his new patients at the Pasadena Recovery Center, the location of the first season.
