A Florida company has recently announced that it was suspending the sales of a doll named Caylee that was manufactured as a tribute to a slain Orlando girl that had the same name.

The Jacksonville-based Showbiz Promotions had previously planned to begin marketing the „Inspirational Caylee Sunshine Doll,” named after 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, on Tuesday afternoon for the price of $29.99.

Nevertheless, Tuesday morning, the company said that it had decided to halt the sales.

On the product’s website, Showbiz Promotions stated that they had suspended the roll out of the doll after they had reviewed the public’s response to the unveiling of the Sunshine Caylee Doll and had received advice from consumers.

Previously, an attorney for the Anthony family had stated that the latter was planning to call the company about the doll, still there is no information on whether that was the reason behind the decision to pull the plug on the sales.

Company president Jaime Salcedo said that the blue-eyed, blonde doll came in a "Caylee Sunshine" T-shirt and did not resemble the murdered girl on purpose, because it would have been too morbid.

The little girl that was slain had light brown hair and brown eyes.

Still, the Caylee doll plays the „You Are My Sunshine” song- which the girl sang in home videos that were publicized in her murder case-when her bellybutton is pushed.

According to Salcedo, the company aimed at donating some of the money coming from sales to charity, adding that they also wanted the Caylee toy to be a tribute to Caylee Anthony.

The girl was found by a utility worker in December in woods near where she lived with her mother and grandparents in Orlando, after she had been reported missing in July.
