Cate Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton welcomed their third son Sunday, whom they have named Ignatius Martin Upton.

The Academy Award-winning actress gave birth to little Ignatius on Sunday in Sydney, said Tim McKeough, media relations manager at the Sydney Theatre Company, according to the Associated Press.

“All are well and very happy,” McKeough said. The newborn weighed 3.6 kilograms (7.94 pounds), he said.

Blanchett, 38, and her playwright husband have been married since 1997 and are parents to two other sons: Dashiell John, 6, and Roman Robert, 3. The couple currently lives in Australia, having commenced three-year contracts as artistic co-directors of the Sydney Theatre Company in January 2008.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd offered his congratulations to the family in a statement Monday, reports the AP. Rudd also said Blanchett would still co-chair an arts panel at a national summit on Saturday.

The Australia 2020 summit will gather 1,000 leading Australians to propose ideas for the future direction of the country, with panels including health, climate change, economy and the arts. It will be held on April 19-20 in Canberra.

Blanchett received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004, for her role in the Martin Scorsese-directed “The Aviator.” She has also been nominated for the prestigious golden statuette for 1998’s “Elizabeth,” 2006’s “Notes on a Scandal” (Best Supporting Actress) and “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (Best Actress) and 2007’s “I’m Not There.”

She next appears on-screen with Harrison Ford in the adventure film “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” due in theaters in May. She portrays a villainous character, Russian Agent Irina Spalko.

Later this year she will also appear in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” a film adaptation of the 1922 short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The film is directed by David Fincher and its cast includes Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and Julia Ormond. It is slated for a December release.
