Cast of "Four Christmases" Expands

The cast of romantic comedy “Four Christmases” now includes Jon Favreau and country music artists Tim McGraw and Dwight Yoakim, alongside stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn.

New Line Cinema’s romantic comedy “Four Christmases” will star Renee Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn as a couple who struggles to visit all sets of parents.

Favreau and McGraw will play Vaughn's bullying siblings who find delight in conceiving new torments for their brother.

Yoakim will play Pastor Phil, described by the Hollywood Reporter as “overly zealous” and married to the mother of Witherspoon's character. The mother is to be portrayed by actress Mary Steenburgen.

Sissy Spacek, Kristin Chenoweth, and Robert Duvall also star in roles that have not been detailed yet.

Seth Gordon is directing for New Line Cinema and Spyglass Entertainment. The holiday film is scheduled for release during the 2008 holiday season.

The comedy marks another collaboration between Favreau and Vaughn, who both became famous after working together in 1996's critically acclaimed “Swingers.” The two have also appeared together in “Made” (2001) and last year’s “The Break-Up.”

Country singer Tim McGraw has appeared in the movies “Friday Night Lights” and “The Kingdom.” Fellow country singer Dwight Yoakim has had more experience with acting, with supporting roles in “Sling Blade,” “Panic Room,” “Hollywood Homicide,” and “Wedding Crashers” which also starred Vaughn.

Vaughn recently starred in the comedic holiday film “Fred Claus.” While appreciation from movie critics was sparse, the film has had a good time at the box office, earning more than $18 million in its opening weekend.

Witherspoon, who became famous with comedies such as “Legally Blonde,” its sequel “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” has worked on more serious projects over the past couple of years, receiving an Academy Award for best actress for her portrayal of June Carter in “Walk the Line.”
