Carrie Underwood Extends Her Carnival Ride Tour

Carrie Underwood, the singer who won the American Idol contest in 2005, has just announced that her Carnival Ride tour will be extended with 51 additional dates.

The tour, which has started earlier this year, was scheduled to end on June 24.  Now, with the additional autumn dates, the tour will end on December 14. The tickets for the shows will go on sale in June 20.

The 24-year-old Carrie Underwood splashed across U. S. pop charts in 2005 with her debut album “Some Hearts,” making it to No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

The album has since sold an impressive 6 million copies and remains the fastest-selling debut country album in the history of SoundScan.

“Carnival Ride,” Carrie’s second project with record label Arista, sold 527,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, in its first week in stores.

It was the best sales week for a female solo country artist in three years, after Shania Twain’s “Greatest Hits” opened with 530,000 in November 2004. Since its launch, “Carnival Ride” sold 2 million copies.
