"American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood and "Gossip Girl" hottie Chace Crawford reportedly ended their romance saying they want different things, Usmagazine.com reported.

Although no official confirmation has been made, the 25-year-old singer announced the split during a radio show.

Underwood and Crawford have been dating since the summer of 2007, but went public with their relationship only in October when they were pictured together for the first time. The two also spent Thanksgiving at his parents' home in Dallas as well a part of their Christmas break.

"His parents are fond of her... they believe 'Carrie Crawford' would be a great addition to the family!" an insider was quoted by Usmagazine.com as saying back in December.

The news of their breakup comes amid rumors that linked Crawford and former 'N Sync singer JC Chasez, 31, together, after the two were spotted spending a lot of time in each other's company. However, speaking recently on Kiss-FM, the singer, who called Crawford a "super nice guy," said he understands why people may think they're an item.

"The only time people usually see us together is in some type of photograph, so they just assume that it’s like that," he explained.

"If I’m dating a girl and I’m standing next to another girl, I’m having an affair," Chasez went on to underline media overreaction, "So now, since there hasn’t been any of that smoke out there, if I’m hanging out with a guy, they’re going to make up a rumor."

"It’s just stupid," he concluded.
