Carla Gugino is the latest
actress that has been announced of joining the cast for Zack Snyder’s
“Watchmen”. The actress will join Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerma, Patrick
Wilson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Billy Crudup and Matthew Goode, who all have been
already announced of staring in the Warner Bros. Pictures’ adaptation of the DC
Comics limited series.
Carla Gugino will play a burlesque
dancer, Sally Jupiter, who will become the beautiful superhero and sex symbol
called The Silk Spectre. She will become this way part of a group of other
heroes, called the Minutemen, who preceded the Watchmen. She will also be the
mother of Malin Akerman’s character.
Carla Gugino has been also said
to portray her character in different eras and at different ages throughout the
movie, which stretches along a vast period of time.
However, “Watchmen” will be in
fact also a comic movie, as its story is set in an alternate America that
has passed a law which bans the activities of the costumed crime fighters. As
one hero gets killed, the remaining members of the group start trying to solve
the mystery. The long-awaited movie will start filming in the autumn in Vancouver and it is to
open in theaters on March 6, 2009.
Carla Gugino, the latest actress
that has been announced of joining the movie’s cast, can be next seen in
“American Gangster”. Her credits also include “Spy Kids”, “Sin City”
and others. However, the actress’ most recent appearance is that from this
season’s “Entourage” series, where he played Vince’s new agent and also his new
love interest.
“Watchmen” will be directed by
Zack Snyder, while Deborah Snyder, Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin will produce
it.
